2.3. Transmission of the genetic information
When a cell is preparing to divide is necessary to duplicate its genetic information. This process is known as replication. In this way it is assured that both daughter cells receive the same inheritance information than the mother cell had.
The procedure is the following:
1st) The double chain of DNA opens up and the two strands separate.
2nd) Free-floating complementary nucleotides attach themselves sequentially to each one
of the two separated old strands. In this way, two new strands are formed.
